Something else I forgot to mention, that I thought was pretty insightful.
The Christian guy I talked to yesterday also said that in the end most people in his religion follow the rules and principles of their faith simply so that they would be allowed in heaven, they worship Jesus Christ as a holy figure to give them guidance in death. He said that he himself did not, that he worshipped Jesus Christ as a human being, whose past actions now give him guidance in life.
He was pretty open-minded, saying that his religion was not really the answer to anything, nor living by its rules the way to heaven, he said that all of that was speculation, things people told themselves to not be afraid, or to not have to deal with life. He said that believing in something that gives you the strength to face reality and to stand up for what you think is right and just in this world is all that matters. Whether it's a 2000 year old prophet, or a personal set of principles, he said religion or faith is never the goal, but only a means to achieve your goals.
Whatever, I thought it was pretty insightful so I thought I might as well post it.

I'm amazed that so many people don't get what this blog is about. It's not to waste time or a joke it's to reveal the stupidity behind suicide. The reasons most people kill themselves are selfish and childish. Even more surprising is when people don't read the fine line of this and think it is real.

This fictional (I suppose) priest doesn't appear to be the worst kind. Instead of saying "My religion is the only truth, so you Muslims and Hindus can GTFO", he is being a bit more open-minded and admitting that his religion may not be the only truth.
On the other hand, there may be a thing such as being too open-minded. Being open to all religions is better than having your mind closed on a single one, but we should also remember that when it comes to objectively questions - scientific questions, fx about how the Earth was created or how life evolved - there are true answers. Which are not answered correctly by religions.
I don't mind using Jesus as an inspiration in life if he said some things that are reasonable or humane. But believing that the Bible is the true word of the creator of the universe is a belief that no intelligent person should ever hold - even though so many do.

I do not mind non-believers treats Jesus Christ as a simple human.
In our religion we believe that Jesus Christ is our Lord and God, because His father is God and His mother is human.
But absolutely we say that He is both a complete God and a complete man, not a demi-god or demi-man.
In other words, if your father is Japanese and your mother is French, then you have the identity of both Japanese and French. Since both your parents' status are equal, only different in nature. I do not say that you are a semi-French or semi-Japansese since it implies discrimination.
Jesus Christ is a very important historical figure bececause we name our year as AD 2008 (AD= Anno Domini,Latin: in the year of our Lord) and his teaching affects the entire world, for example Sunday we rest, and a civil society observe the rule of monogamy.
If you say writing, that the lower case of letters (a, b, c, d, e,...x,y,z) are invented by the clergy when they were making manuscript of the Bible. In former times there were no printing machine and if they copy the Holy Scriptures as every word composed by capital letters (A, B, C, D, E, ... X,Y,Z), it is really a tough job.
To boot, the invention of lower case also make us easier for reading, to identify proper nouns and inception of a sentence.
Also our teaching affects amny giant figure like Mother Teresa of Calcutta,
Pope John Paul II, and Saint Giana Beretta Molla, Saint Joan of Arc...
