Another thing I've been thinking a lot about these past few days is how so many depressed and suicidal people have this general idea of not being understood by anyone.
I must admit that I myself have been a victim of this myself until recently, but when I finally seriously thought about it it just seemed so silly to me. Everyone can be understood. No one is so different or deviant that he is alone in how he feels or who he is. No one. The only reason a person can sometimes be 'not understood' is because of a lack of or flaw in communication, and that's also the major problem I had when I felt like no one understood me.
I subconsciously wanted to not be understood, and I'm sure many people who can identify with me will agree on this; if you're contemplating suicide, all you want is a remedy for the guilt, or worse: a reason why those you will leave behind deserve the pain you will cause them. Hence if you're already feeling depressed, the subconscious plan of action is to not talk about it with your loved ones, not try to explain your feelings or situation to them, because by not doing these things you make sure they will not understand you - and if they don't understand you, you have a reason to hate them.
It's pathetic, really. I stopped doing that. From now on I'm as open and honest as can be, and I won't make illusions anymore. I'm going to see things for what they are.
But that's not to say that my plans have been altered, although I must admit there's an inkling of doubt now, I have not changed my mind.

If we can see art as a form of this communication you are referring to, I think we can look to Schopenhauer and Nietzsche for support.
In Nietzsche's "Birth of Tragedy" he first asserts that life should be affirmed. The main focus of the work is on Greek Tragedy and how (and why) art is created. "For it is only as an aesthetic phenomenon that existence and the world are eternally justified."
Sure there are plenty of other Nietzschian maxims that are optimistic enough for me to consider using in my argument to keep you or anyone from killing themselves, but I think a more powerful and specific tack of argumentation would be to show that there is a purpose to life.
So what is this purpose? Well I've been dancing around actually putting it in to words for myself for a few months now but I think I've had it figured out for a while (at least figured out enough to ward off thoughts of killing myself.)
The purpose of life to me is to uncover what we can about the human condition with the little time we have. Communicating what exactly we feel when we are so close to the marrow of life that we can't take it anymore and are contemplating suicide...so stripped of the trivial worries of daily life and just down to the prod and cons of waking up for one more day... those are the most valuable thoughts you will ever think. What is it that's wrong with life today? What's been wrong with human life since we started philosophizing?
As you have suggested, I think that whatever causes us to go to the edge is common in all of us. It's something difficult to express, that's for sure. But that's what generates great art.
Early on in "The Birth of Tragedy" Nietzsche tells the story of King Midas and Silenus. To summarize, a king is seeking advice from a wise man named Silenus who tries to avoid the king, but is eventually caught. The king asked "what is the best and most desirable of all things for man?"
Silenus replies, "What is best of all is utterly beyond your reach: not to be born... but the second best for you is to die soon."
Kind of a downer I know. But Nietzsche's got our back. Within a page he shows that we must live our life as both the artist and the work of art, and that "Existence under the bright sunshine of such Gods is regarded as desirable in itself." In other words we live for the Gods.
Now obviously one might claim to be an atheist and therefore escape this last chance to save yourself. But Nietzsche is the ultimate atheist. And while I admit this isn't a 100% concrete argument to keep on going, but that's typical Nietzsche.
However I think he brings up a good point that there is a sort of common condition between all humans and furthermore art is both the great escape from the wild world out there and the ticket to slowly solving the problem. What else could be worth using our life time for?

This is a publicity stunt me and my squadmates have found out, but it does give people the warning signs of what to look for in someone who is suicidal. It gives insight to the ways people react and go about closing themselves off from the world. This site is very very unorthodoxed, but then again it is true in the fact that these people who attempt to go through with suicide will not seek help they will hide and try to get by until their time is right. This is where you as the reader should look for things that trigger coincidence with the events you read in this Blog....... Tania this is a smart move but it walks a thin line with stupidity all the same.
